We can’t think of anything better than a few days celebrating food and film at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, right in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, for a uniquely winter-time experience.
But that’s exactly what you can take advantage of during “Devour! The Canadian Rockies Food Film Festival”, from Feb. 22-24.
Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has put together a special package around the event, which includes:
- Two nights accommodation at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
- Friday Evening Cabin Crawl Reception & Dinner
- Chili Cook-Off Luncheon
- Five Course Wine-Paired Cinema Dinner
- Sunday Farewell Brunch
- Cooking Demos
Rates start from $479 CAD per person, based on double occupancy in a Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Room. Rates are subject to hotel availability and do not include taxes. Package must be booked as a minimum two-night stay.
So what is Devour? Launched in Nova Scotia, Devour! The Food Film Fest is a “transformative food and film experience combining cinematic excellence with extraordinary gastronomic activities.”
High-profile chefs and celebrated filmmakers from around the world have taken part in the event over its nine-year history. Jason Priestley, Anthony Bourdain, Gordon Pinsent, Bill Pullman and Jacques Pépin are a few of the celebrities who have taken part in years past.
This is the second year for the Devour event at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. The key event will be the Gala Dinner on the Saturday night, where inspiring short films from the Devour program are artfully paired with talented chefs from across North America and screened in the main ballroom of the Lodge. The courses are inspired by the films and presented by the chefs.
“Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge’s commitment to quality food experiences and innovative programming is meant to entice the culinary traveler,” says Devour! The Food Film Fest Executive Director Michael Howell. “That’s our key demographic.”
Another feature of the weekend is a “Cabin Crawl” – guests are broken down into groups of 40-50 and travel visit each luxury cabin. Every cabin is hosted by a celebrity chef and features a culinary theme along with live entertainment. Last year the Cabin Crawl themes were “East Coast Kitchen Party” featuring oysters, lobster rolls, Benjamin Bridge wines and a live fiddler; “Swiss Alps Apres Ski” featuring fondue, raclette, craft beers and a Juno-nominated accordion player dressed up in lederhosen; “Meat Rave” featuring house-made charcuterie and live DJs.
There is a long culinary history at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge – with dining options like Moose’s Nook Chophouse, Orso Trattoria, Emerald Lounge and Oka Sushi.
“Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is an iconic property and a natural partner for our brand,” Mr. Howell says.
